Received this recipe from my sister. Tweeked the crust a bit to my family's taste. This is delicous warm from the oven or cold from the refrigerator.

Ingredients For apple kuchen

  • CRUST
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 6 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • FILLING
  • 12
    large apples (used gala & honey crisp
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • TOPPING
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 8 Tbsp
    butter, softened

How To Make apple kuchen

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Mix all crust ingredients and pat into a 9 x 13 pan.

    Peel and slice apples. Put in large bowl. Mix together sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the sliced apples & mix. Spread evenly over crust.

    Mix all topping ingredients. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.

    Bake in oven for 1 hour or until top is golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm with ice cream if you like. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. Delicious cold as well.
