For my entire childhood I had no idea that rice pudding could be made creamy in a saucepan. This is the recipe I grew up with.

Ingredients For great grandmother's baked rice pudding

2 ccooked rice

3 cmilk
-
1 1/2 tspvanilla extract

1/4 tspsalt
-
1/2 csugar
-
3eggs, beaten
-
1/2 craisins, optional

cinnamon, optiona
How To Make great grandmother's baked rice pudding

1Cook rice in 3 qt. saucepan as you normally would. (Bring rice to boil then reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes)

2Combine cooked rice with all other ingredients except cinnamon. In a 10X6X2 baking dish which has been greased with butter (or margarine).

3Bake pudding in 325 degree oven for 1 hour or until set. Sprinkle with cinnamon on the top, if desired. Serves 10.
