A twist on apple pie. This is an absolutely delicious, creamy, melt in your mouth apple pie. The Walnut Streusel topping takes it to the next level.

Ingredients For sour cream apple pie

  • 2 c
    apples, diced (granny smith, golden delicious, macintosh, winesap)
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1
    egg, slightly beaten
  • 1
    9 inch pie shell, unbaked, refrigerated
  • TOPPING
  • 1/3 c
    sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/3 c
    flour
  • 1/4 c
    butter, melted
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts, chopped

How To Make sour cream apple pie

    Mix 3/4 cup sugar and 2 tbsp. flour and whisk sour cream, egg, vanilla, salt until well blended.

    Fold in apples; pour into unbaked pie shell.

    Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Decrease temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 15 minutes.

    While pie is baking, combine 1/3 cup sugar with cinnamon and 1/3 cup flour and walnuts; add melted butter and stir with fork. Chill until needed. Sprinkle Streusel over pie and return to oven. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
