I must admit curiosity got the best of me and I had to give this recipe a try. The result was refreshingly delicious.

Ingredients For basil gelato

2 cbasil leaves

2 cmilk
-
1 cheavy cream
-
3/4 csugar
-
1 Tbsplemon zest
-
1/4 tspsalt

6egg yolks
How To Make basil gelato

1Combine basil, milk, cream, sugar, zest, salt and yolks in a blender and puree until smooth.

2Pour into 2 quart saucepan and heat gently until sugar dissolves.

3Remove from heat and pour through a fine strainer, chill in the refrigerator.

4Pour into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturers directions.

5Serve garnished with fresh basil leaves.
