This is along the lines of a dump cake, but with a few more steps. It also comes under the heading of keep it simple.

Ingredients For mud cake
- FIRST LAYER

1 cflour

1 stickbutter, softened

1 cchopped pecans
- SECOND LAYER

1 ccool whip
-
1 tspvanilla extract
-
1 cconfectioners' sugar
-
1 (8oz) pkgcream cheese, softened
- THIRD LAYER
-
1 tspvanilla extract
-
1 smpackage instant vanilla or chocolate pudding mix

1 3/4 cmilk
-
1 ccool whip
-
chopped pecans, to garnish

shaved heershey bar, to garnish
How To Make mud cake

1FIRST LAYER: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Blend the flour with the butter and then add pecans. Press into a 9 x 13-inch pan.

3Bake for 25 minutes. Cool completely.

4SECOND LAYER: Blend all the ingredients and pour over the crust.

5THIRD LAYER: Blend vanilla, pudding mix, and milk. Pour over cream cheese mixture. Top with cool whip and sprinkle with pecans and shaved chocolate. Refrigerate until set and ready to serve. Refrigerate any unused portion.
