These are a nice old fashioned brown sugar cookie.

Ingredients For washboard cookies

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • sugar for dusting.

How To Make washboard cookies

  • 1
    In a small bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, water, and vanilla. Combine flour and baking soda; add to creamed mixture and mix well.

    Shape into 1 inch balls. Place on greased baking sheets; flatten with a fork that has been dipped in water. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 325* for 12-15 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove to wire racks.
