Ingredients For swedish spice cookies

  • 2 c
    sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c
    unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp
    ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 2 tsp
    orange zest
  • 1
    egg

How To Make swedish spice cookies

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sift the Flour together with the sugar and baking soda.

    Combine the corn syrup, butter, spices and orange zest in a small saucepan; heat, just until the mixture boils and the butter melts. Remove from the heat and cool.

    Whisk the egg in a large bowl; slowly pour the cooled syrup into the egg, mixing well, with a wooden spoon.

    Stir in the flour mixture all at once; mix until well blended.

    Drop by teaspoonfuls to form the cookies, 2" apart on greased or parchment lined cookie sheets.

    Bake 11-13 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer cookies to cooling racks. When cool, store in a lightly closed container.
