maple and pecan cookies

This is an old recipe from the 50's and was very popular for dads lunch pail..kids liked them too.. sorta like a shortbread cookie; I think dad brought this recipe home from work , after trying one from one of his buddy's at work...like he did with the cherry winks...mom got a lot of recipes that way..always good and dad approved.

Ingredients For maple and pecan cookies

  • 1 c
    pecans or walnuts
  • 3/4 c
    firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 c
    butter at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    maple extract
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour

How To Make maple and pecan cookies

  • 1
    Heat oven to 350^. In a food processor with a metal blade of in a blender, place the nuts and process till coarse. Add 1/4 cup of the brown sugar and process until fine; set aside.

    Combine butter, remaining brown sugar,and maple extract in a large bowl. Beat mixture at high speed, until light and fluffy.Turn to low and add the flour and nut mixture.

    Roll pieces of dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart. Press a nut in the center of each ball.

    Bake cookies until brown around edges about 15 to 20 minutes. Cool on paper bags. Enjoy!
