When my neice Dee and I were young (well I was Young she was very small) my mother use to bake these Tea Cakes. I can still close my eyes and smell the aroma in the house. It became a Christmas Tridation for us to help her make these devine cookies I can remember Dee with flour on her little face and sweet little hands.Now it is a tradition for me and my grandchildren.

1 3/4 csugar

1 ccrisco shortening

2 lgeggs

3 cgold metal flour

1/2 tspsalt

1 tsppure vanilla extract
How To Make grammy mandarano's old fashion tea cakes

1Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs one at a time. Add salt and vanilla. Last add flour and knead dough on floured surface. Cut with cookie cutter and bake at 325 degrees for 8-10 min. Enjoy !!

2If you bake these cookies 10 min. the will be a little hard . I like to bake a few like that for my husband and I to soak in our coffee. My children and grandchildren love them chewy. Jim's (my Husband)favorite way is hot out of the oven.
