This recipie was gave to me by my Grand Mother Deleplain..She died about 15 years ago, I like the idia of handing down recipies from one generation to the next.

Ingredients For genger cream cookies

  • 1/3 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    malasses
  • 1/2 c
    hot water
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutme
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • VANILLA BUTTER FROSTING
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter softened
  • 1 1/2 c
    confectioners sugar
  • 3/4 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    milk

How To Make genger cream cookies

  • 1
    Mix shortening, sugar, egg, and water together. Blend in the remaining ingredients. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for one hour.

    Heat oven to 400 degresse, drop dough by teaspoons on a greased baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Place on a rack to cool.

    Mix the vanilla butter frosting ingredents together and frost the cooled cookies, let stand for frosting to set.
