Another one of the recipes from my late mother-in-law's recipe box. This is a recipe that my husband grew up with.

Ingredients For crumb cookies

  • 3/4 c
    butter or oleo
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 3/4 c
    rolled oats (quick cook)

How To Make crumb cookies

  • 1
    Combine oleo & sugar and cream thoroughly. Sift soda, salt & flour and add to creamed mixture. Add rolled oats and mix. Spread 1/2 mixture on well greased baking pan 8x8x2". Spread with filling and cover with remaining crumb and pat down. Bake 30-35 min. at 375'.

    Filling 1 cup dates cut fine 1 cup sugar 1 cup water Cook until thick and cool before spreading.
