We used this recipe at Christmas for years. It was always a wonderful addition to our cookie tray. The cookie tray in our family is a pressed glass tray about 20" round. It is huge and has been passed from Gramma Bea to Kelli because we've been having a lot of holidays at their place.

Ingredients For chocolate crinkles

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 2/3 c
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 oz
    chocolate squares melted
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/3 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    nuts (optional)

How To Make chocolate crinkles

  • 1
    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs, then the melted chocolate. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in nuts.

    Chill for 2 to 3 hours. Form dough into 1 inch balls and roll in powdered sugar before baking. Bake at 350 for about 10 min.
