This came from my son's second grade class cookbook. He is now in law school. I am posting a few recipes from this book. I have had it for years and still use recipes I got in this book that he brought home many years ago. *Each child brought a recipe and they assembled a little cookbook. They combined two second grade classes. It has some of the best holiday cookies and I have used them for years. It was such a brilliant idea. More schools should do this. It was their present to their Mothers and it has definitely been a present that I have used for years and years and will continue to use and have many memories of love attached.....

Roll back amd forth making lomg strips of each color. Twist these into a candy cane shape. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes. While warm sprinkle with crushed peppermint and sugar. I have also rolled them in powdered sugar at end and then sprinkled with crushed peppermint instead of using the granulated sugar. I have another recipe that uses powdered sugar all the way throughout for the candy cane cookies and I think I like that instead of the granulated but you can try both ways and see what you think.
