Not sure where I got this recipe, but they are definitely the best I have ever had... they are Santa's favorite at our house. =)

Ingredients For amish sugar cookies

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 c
    butter softened
  • 1 c
    cooking oil
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 4 1/2 c
    flour

How To Make amish sugar cookies

    Mix together sugar, powdered sugar, butter, oil and eggs.

    In a smaller bowl mix vanilla, salt, cream of tartar, baking soda, flour and mix well.

    Blend all ingredients and chill for an hour or overnight even.

    Flour hands and shape dough into balls and place on cookie sheet.

    Flatten balls with chilled glass dipped in sugar. Sprinkle with colored sugar and bake at 350 degrees until edges are golden.
