This is my daughter's fav dessert to make every Thanksgiving & Christmas. It is very rich and sweet. A great treat for the children. It is in the Better Homes and Gardens "Christmas Cooking From The Heart" Enjoy!

Ingredients For golden-flecked chocolate bars

  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 14 oz
    can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make golden-flecked chocolate bars

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    For crust, in large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium high for 30 seconds. Add butter & salt; beat until combined. Beat flower on low speed until combined.

    Press two-thirds of the crust mixture onto the bottom of a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

    For filling, in a medium saucepan combine sweetened condensed milk & chocolate pieces. Stir over low heat until mixture melts and is smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts & vanilla. Spread mixture over crust. Dot brownies with the remaining crust mixture.

    Bake in 350° oven about 35 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
