    butter or margarine
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 3 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 8 oz
    box of chopped dates
  • 2 c
    corn flakes or rice krispies
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

How To Make date nut balls

  • 1
Combine butter, sugar and dates in pan. Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally to keep from sticking and until dates are dissolved. Remove from heat and add the cereal, nuts and vanilla extract. Mix and let it cool until you can handle it. With buttered hands make into quarter size balls. Shake the balls in a bag with some powdered sugar to coat and place on serving dish or storage container. If you prefer the mixture can be made into a log shape instead of balls. This is much easier! Use a flour sifter to shake powdered sugar on the log. This recipe can be stored in refrigerator for a long time if in a sealed container.
