This cake is delicious! My cousin Joanie use to make it for my sister and I whenever she babysat us. It brings back a lot of great memories and is a favorite of mine! Enjoy!

Ingredients For uncle ralph's cake

  • 1 stick
    bitter
  • 1/2 c
    crisco
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 5 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2
    eggs beaten
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • ICING
  • 1 stick
    butter, softened
  • 8 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 1 lb
    confectioners' sugar

How To Make uncle ralph's cake

    Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon & nutmeg.

    Cook butter, Crisco, salt & cocoa then add to above mixture.

    Add buttermilk, vanilla and beaten eggs. Mix well and bake in a well greased cookie sheet on 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until done.

    Beat icing ingredients together and spread onto cake warm or cold. My cousin likes to add icing to cake when it's warm, she thinks it sticks better. Cut into pieces and place cut piece into a cupcake wrapper n serve or leave as a sheet and cut slices.
