I have made homemade doughnuts for years even before the quick baking mixes were made which sure make it easy!

Ingredients For homemade doughnuts

  • 2 c
    baking mix, pioneer or bisquick
  • 1/4 c
    sugar (little more if you like sweet)
  • 1/8 tsp
    fresh ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp
    fresh ground nutmeg
  • 2 md
    eggs
  • 2 Tbsp
    evaporated milk
  • powdered sugar
  • icing, mixed colors, optional

How To Make homemade doughnuts

    Mix dry ingredients. Mix eggs and milk. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture mixing well getting all lumps mashed out. Roll dough out to about 1/4 inch on lightly floured surface. Use a doughnut cutter to cut out the doughnuts or just cut or roll out pieces of dough into 1 inch pieces like doughnut holes and fry in hot oil. Do not over cook. Turn doughnuts or dough pieces in the oil while cooking. Dough will puff up some during cooking. Brown to a good golden brown. Do not brown too dark only until done. Drain on paper towels. Cool. Place holes in bag of powdered sugar and shake gently to coat or smear a little icing on doughnuts in several colors. Enjoy!
