I also have a great frosting recipe I use with this cake, everyone has always loved this cake!! *this cake is great for high altitude, I live at almost 9000 feet in the Rocky Mountains, and this cake ALWAYS turns out great!

Ingredients For chocolate cake

  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    crisco
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    soured milk (milk with a shot of vinegar)
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    boiling water

How To Make chocolate cake

    Cut together Sugar and crisco
  • 2
    Add, eggs, vanilla, cocoa and salt - mix well. Add soured milk and baking soda - mix well. Add flour and boiled water (still hot) - mix well.

    Pour in to lightly greased and floured pan(s). I like to use 2 round cake pans Bake at 350° for about 30 min or until a toothpick comes out clean.
