I have made this cake for years and take it to church functions and just to enjoy at home. I'm not into sweets that much but I love this cake. Hope you enjoy it.

Your whole family is going to love this pound cake! It's called a caramel pound cake because the brown sugar in the cake gives it a nice caramel flavor. Pecans baked into the cake give it a nice crunch. It can be served with powdered sugar or a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. For presentation, we added a drizzle of store-bought caramel sauce and some additional pecans which was quite tasty.

Ingredients For caramel pecan pound cake

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1 lb
    box light brown sugar
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 5 lg
    eggs
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla
  • 1 bag
    chopped pecans, 6 oz

Some ovens cook faster. Ours was done at 1 hr 20 minutes so we suggest starting to checking around 1 hr 15 minutes.
  • Butter and sugar in a bowl.

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar thoroughly at medium speed. Gradually add sugar and continue creaming.
  • Adding eggs to the butter and sugar.

    Add egg one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Baking powder, flour, and salt combined in a bowl.

    In a medium bowl, combine baking powder, salt, and flour.
  • Adding milk and flour to the butter/egg mixture.

    Add flour mixture alternately with milk to cream mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Blend well after each addition.
  • Stirring in vanilla extract and pecans.

    Stir in vanilla and pecans.
  • Batter poured into a Bundt pan.

    Coat a tube or Bundt pan heavily with a flour cooking spray. Pour batter into the greased pan.
  • Pound cake baking in the oven.

    Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

    Let the cake cool for 15 minutes.
  • Pound cake removed from the pan.

    Then remove from pan. If desired, dust lightly with powdered sugar or store-bought caramel sauce and pecans.
