This is our families favorite way to have oatmeal. We use Coaches Oats usually or just old fashioned. Its so good, it's almost a dessert.

Ingredients For french oatmeal

  • 2 1/4 c
    water
  • 1
    grated, peeled apple
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 2/3 c
    coaches oats or old fashioned rolled oats.
  • 3 Tbsp
    maple syrup (we use grade b)
  • some
    cream or milk as desired

How To Make french oatmeal

  • 1
    peel, core and grate any kind of apple. Add to water.
  • 2
    Bring water to a boil. Add lemon juice and oats. Stirring occasionaly, turn down heat and let slow boil for about 5 minutes.

    Turn off heat and add syrup and cream or milk. As an option I sometimes add either raisins at the end, or Craisins or toasted pecans. Holy-Moly it makes good even better!
