My niece served this at a holiday brunch and my husband and I loved it. I've taken it to potlucks and I always bring back an empty pan.

Ingredients For company's coming cheese and egg casserole

  • 1 16 oz
    french bread loaf
  • 1 1/2 c
    shredded moteray jack cheese
  • 1 1/2 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 8 oz
    pkg cream cheese, cut into small chunks
  • 1 4 oz
    can chopped green chilis
  • 10
    eggs
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • dash
    red pepper

How To Make company's coming cheese and egg casserole

    Tear bread into chunks. Should have 10 cups. In a greased shallow 3 qt casserole or 9x13 pan, arrange bread chunks evenly. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese followed by the cubed cream cheese. Top with green chilies. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs just until mixed. Stir in milk, mustard and red pepper. Pour egg mixture over bread and cheeses.

    Cover and chill for several hours or overnight.

    Bake uncovered at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Makes 12 servings.
