I just can't go back to any canned cinnamon rolls after making these. Great for brunches, breakfast, or a late night snack... mmmm so good!!!!!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

The dough for these pecan cinnamon rolls rises well and creates a light and fluffy roll. The style of making these is not traditional but makes them very easy to make. The filling is sweet and filled with cinnamon. Pecans add a delightful crunch. These would be delicious to wake up to any morning.

How To Make pecan cinnamon rolls

Test Kitchen Tips
The filling is sweet. Use as much or little as you like. Most likely you will have filling left over.
  • Milk brought to a boil.
    1
To make the rolls, bring the milk just to a boil and remove from heat immediately.
  • Adding in butter and sugar.
    2
Mix in the butter and sugar and let cool to lukewarm.
  • Dissolving the yeast.
    3
In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water for 10 minutes.
  • Adding eggs and milk mixture to yeast mixture.
    4
Add the milk mixture and beaten eggs. Mix well until smooth.
  • Adding additional flour to the dough.
    5
Add half of the flour and mix until smooth. Then add remaining flour and salt.
  • Dough on a lightly floured surface.
    6
Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes).
  • Dough placed in a buttered bowl.
    7
Place dough into a large buttered bowl.
  • Allowing dough to rise.
    8
Cover with a towel in a warm, draft-free area (I find my microwave is great for this). Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Punching down the risen dough.
    9
    Punch dough down.
  • Dough separated into 12 pieces.
    10
Separate the dough into 12 even pieces.
  • Rolling out the pieces of dough.
    11
Roll each piece of dough out into about 6" x 2" rectangle.
  • Filling ingredients in a bowl.
    12
To make the filling, mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl.
  • Spreading filling onto the dough.
    13
Spread the filling on each piece of dough. Roll.
  • Pressing down on the cinnamon rolls.
    14
Place rolls in a buttered baking pan and press down gently.
  • Rolls covered with a towel.
    15
Cover with a towel and let rise 1 hour.
  • Cinnamon rolls baked until lightly brown.
    16
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Bake until nicely browned, about 20 minutes.
  • Mixing together the icing ingredients.
    17
To make the icing, mix the ingredients together in a medium bowl.
  • Pouring the icing on the cinnamon rolls.
    18
Pour or spread (depending on desired consistency) on top of warm cinnamon rolls.
  • Pecan cinnamon rolls iced.
    19
    Eat and enjoy!
