My sister developed this recipe and I "tweaked" it! Both versions are excellent! Let me know which you prefer. The "tweaking" is denoted with **

Ingredients For sister biscuits

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    **sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    cold butter, grated
  • 1 Tbsp
    **vodka
  • 2/3 c
    buttermilk

How To Make sister biscuits

    Preheat oven to 425 In a medium mixing bowl add flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and **sugar. Combine well.

    Cut in COLD butter until butter pieces are no larger than pea size.

    Measure **vodka in measuring cup, add buttermilk to bring liquid measure to 2/3 cup. Use large fork to combine liquid to dry until a ball forms.
  • Fold dough, flatten a touch and fold again.  Fold and turn 3-4 times

    Sprinkle a bit of flour on surface. Flatten, fold, turn x 3-4 times. Do not over work dough. Roll out 1/2" thick and cut out. ( These freeze well-place in a single layer on parchment paper)
  • Layer upon layer of buttery flaky goodness!

    Place in a biscuit pan allowing the edges to slightly touch. Bake at 425 for 10-12 min. (If frozen, bake at 425 for 12-13 min)
