These tea buns are really good. The recipe has been given to my friend Bonnie who lives in Vermont and she has passed it on to her friend. I hope you enjoy them.

Ingredients For diane's newfie tea buns

  • 4 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 6 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    milk(i use canned evaporated milk)
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 pkg
    raisins(1 & 1/2 cups)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make diane's newfie tea buns

    Preheat oven to 375'F. To a large bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix it through.

    Add butter and cut in until the butter is about the size of a nickle. In a small bowl beat eggs, milk and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix this in with the flour mixture and then add raisins.

    Lightly flour a cutting board or piece of waxed paper and pat out the dough to about 1&1/2 inches. Cut out buns using a small juice glass or deep cookie cutter. Bake in a preheated oven at 375'F. for 15 mins. or until lightly brown. These can be frozen and then microwaved for 30 secs or so. You can have a great tea bun any time!
