These crackers are great! They are a hit with my kids. I first ate them at the camp when we had a cookout, but a friend at work named Dee Arceneaux gave me the recipe. The original recipe called for 3 tablespoons of crushed red pepper flakes. This was much too hot for me and my family. Adjust the heat for your taste.

Ingredients For firehouse crackers

  • 1 box
    saltine crackers
  • 1 1/2 c
    wesson canola oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    crushed red pepper
  • 1 pkg
    hidden valley buttermilk dressing mix

How To Make firehouse crackers

  • 1
    Whisk the oil ( must be Wesson canola oil; do not substitute), pepper, and dressing mix together. Whisk until mixed well.

    Place crackers in a tupperware container.

    Pour the oil mixture over the crackers.

    Turn every 15 minutes until coated well. Then turn every few hours. Store in airtight container.
