When I was stationed in Germany in 1980, this recipe was given to me by my unit commander's wife (Karen Earlewine). You can substitute cut-up hot dogs for the cocktail franks.

Ingredients For glazed cocktail franks

  • 20 oz
    can pineapple chunks
  • 16 oz
    can sauerkraut
  • 15 oz
    can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground pepper
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2-3 lb
    cocktail franks or little smokies
  • 10 oz
    jar current or cherry jelly

How To Make glazed cocktail franks

  • 1
    Drain pineapple juice into a large saucepan. To the juice, add sauerkraut, tomato sauce, pepper, ginger, and sugar. Simmer 30 minutes.

    Add cocktail franks, jelly, and pineapple. Cook until jelly melts and franks are hot.

    This can be cooked in a crockpot - just combine all the ingredients and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
