These have been a favorite appetizer/snack at many get togethers. Everyone just seems to gobble them up. Everyone will think you spent hours on these babies - but once you see how easy they are and how often they are requested, you will keep the filling in the freezer ready to go at a moments notice. Perfect for a fancy appetizer, tailgate party, or anything in between. I hope y'all enjoy them (:

Ingredients For yummy sausage mushroom bites

  • 1 lb
breakfast sausage - you can use hot if you like
  • 8 oz
mushrooms, white or baby portabello, fresh
  • 3
green onions, finely diced - white and green parts
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • your favorite recipe for pie dough or refrigerated store bought works well too

How To Make yummy sausage mushroom bites

  • 1
In a medium skillet on medium heat, cook sausage - breaking it up as you would ground beef.
  • 2
In your food processor, pulse mushrooms until finely diced. You may chop finely by hand if you don't own a food processor - the food processor is just a time saver.
  • 3
Add mushrooms, green onion, and cream cheese to sausage, stir until well combined. Cook until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  • 4
On a floured surface roll out pie crust until it is 1/8" thick. Cut with a 2" biscuit cutter or even a glass will work. I used a pieriogi form cutter - just another time saver.
  • 5
Add 1 teaspoon of sausage filling to the center of cut circle. Fold and crimp edges using a fork. Place on baking sheet.
  • 6
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes until crust is golden brown. Serve these warm and enjoy! Any unused filling freezes very well for snack-attacks or for drop-in guests (:
