A Sweet Start to the Day for Your Sweetheart

Coconut Berry Macadamia French Toast

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I plan on showing my husband how much I care with a special breakfast. Typical weekday breakfasts are nothing elaborate, so I think he’ll be excited to wake up to something memorable.

Maybe I’ll make a batch of Lori Digilio’s (Milpitas, CA) Heavenly Honey Rolls for my honey. Sweet and light, they’re a terrific choice for breakfast. This has been Lori’s family-favorite recipe for years and now her children “serve these rolls to friends and family when they want to impress.”

Lisa Crum (Delbarton, WV) made these sweet rolls for her husband. He took one bite and joked, “Quick, get them away… if you keep them here I’ll eat them all.” I wonder if my husband would have the same reaction? I bet he would.

I know his eyes would light up if I presented him with Diane M.’s (Twin Falls, ID) Coconut Berry Macadamia French Toast. When served, this looks almost too good to eat!

“I love nutty, loaded sweet stuff,” shares Diane. “This has all my faves put together and is great for your sweetie on Valentine’s Day.” In the Test Kitchen, we used raspberries in the creamy, fruity filling, but strawberries would be delicious too. A nut/coconut coating is a surprise crunch with each bite. A sweet treat indeed.

Who doesn’t love to be woken up with some kisses? Especially when they’re Nadine Mesch’s (Mount Healthy, OH) Morning Kisses. I know I’d love to wake up to these bites of heaven every day.

“Wondering where the name came from,” asks Nadine. “When you serve these, your entire family GIVES you morning kisses.” I love that little anecdote and I absolutely fell for these sweet, beignet-like bites. With just a hint of orange flavor, they’re the perfect way to start the day.

Lisa G.’s (Buffalo, NY) Red Sweetheart Waffles with Strawberry Sauce are super simple to whip up. She uses a baking mix for the waffles but adds a few drops of red food coloring to the batter to make them a lovely pink color. Super cute! And Lisa’s easy strawberry sauce is delicious. It tops the waffle wonderfully but would be yummy on ice cream or even a shortcake. Simply delightful!

Has anyone ever met a crepe they didn’t love? I sure haven’t. Fruity, fresh, fluffy, light and delicate, I could go on and on about Freda Gable’s (Vancouver, WA) Crepes for Valentine’s Day.

“This is a favorite of mine,” shares Freda. “I top mine with whip cream, powder sugar or both. Sometimes I will even use a fruit flavored yogurt.” However you decide to top them, they’re yummy. The Kitchen Crew tried them with whipped cream and vanilla yogurt – we liked both. Before we knew it we had eaten everything! Now that’s the sign of a great recipe.

Whatever I decide to make I know he’ll enjoy breakfast because it was made with love. How are you going to show your loved one how much you care this Valentine’s Day? Happy Pinching!
