Strawberries Add Sweetness to Delectable Desserts

Strawberry Pudding

The other day I was talking with the Kitchen Crew about summer activities we loved to do as kids. One of the ladies mentioned strawberry picking with her family.

Hearing her share her childhood memories (and talking about what goodies they’d make with the strawberries!), made me get a real itchin’ for them.

Since, they’re overflowing at my local market I picked up a few pints and can’t wait to get into the kitchen. Now what to make?

Miranda Barrier’s Strawberry Pudding is strawberry’s answer to banana pudding! And this southern girl can’t get enough of it. “Simple and easy,” says Miranda. “I came up with this when I wanted a quick dessert.”

Vanilla wafers, pudding, whipped topping and fresh strawberries combine for one sweet and creamy treat. Grab a big spoon and dig in. It’s sure to meet the approval of family and friends.

“This quick and easy recipe is a fun change of pace for a dessert,” shares Careema Bell. Well, if all salads tasted like Careema’s Strawberry Panzanella Salad I’d be eating ’em all day long.

The brown sugar coated bread cubes are like perfectly sweetened, toasty croutons. Coupled with the fresh strawberries you’ve got one out-of-this-world treat. Served in a fancy glass, it’s a dessert guaranteed to impress.

“[This recipe is a] light and yummy new twist on strawberry shortcake,” Barbara Mayo says of her Strawberry Martini Shortcake. “[It’s] very yummy for the end of a nice dinner for two or a dinner party for six.”

The strawberries soak in a lovely mixture of balsamic vinegar and orange zest. Combined with a mousse-like pudding and crunchy lemon biscotti crumbs on top, your guests never need to know how easy this is to make.

Topped with rum soaked strawberries, Gina Gonzalez’s Coconut Strawberry-Rum Cheesecake is definitely an adults-only dessert. Thanks to the addition of coconut milk, this cheesecake is super-duper creamy.

“I was going through so many recipes on coconut cheesecake I really did not know which recipe to choose from,” reveals Gina. “So I decided to be a little creative, mixed all the ingredients and came up with this creation.” Cut yourself a big slice of this cheesecake and enjoy!

If a recipe is called Mile High Strawberry Pie!, it has to put a smile on your face. It did mine! I’m super glad Colleen Sowa shared her recipe.

“This is not overly sweet pie,” explains Colleen. “The flavor of the fresh strawberries shines through.” The fresh flavors and beautiful berries in this are sure to impress. It’s almost to pretty to eat… almost.

This weekend, pick up a pint or two of strawberries and see what you can create!
