My Grandma was the best cook, but she never used a recipe, which makes it hard to cook some of the great food that she made. For some time now, I have been very interested in Vintage Desserts, and other types of "Old Recipes" If you have some that you would like to share, Please do so!

Looking for an old cucumber pickling recipe for something called "slippery jacks."

it used yellow, overripe cukes, sliced, and pickled in a special brine. it was my grandfather's, and my 82-year-old mother really misses it!

Remember the birds will be making their nests soon. If you can remember to save things like yarn, string, and fluff from your dryer to put out in a suet feeder for our feathered friends to make their nests more cozy. They will reward you with brightly colored nests.
