Just had to join to share this recipe. It is a favorite of my sons and mine. I'm sure some will knock it because it's using a box mix to start but I can truly say it's one of our favorite things to eat of all times. Hope you enjoy too!
If you have a Habanero's or a Don Pablo's restaurant chain in your area, they sell an appetizer called "Border Dip" It's a combination of spicy refried beans, taco meat, tomato, onion, and queso blanco melted together and generally served with either tortillas or chips.
I have to say I love this dip, but I'm not always able to eat it all and generally take home almost half of it. Well... I had some left over and didn't have any chips to eat it with... so I made some Mac N Cheese and mixed the leftover dip in with it and WOW was it ever good!!!
If you don't have a Don Pablo's or a Habanero's.. You could probably make a version at home with a can of spicey refried beans, a cup of queso blanco, a half cup of taco seasoned hamburger meat, & half a cup of diced tomatoes and onion microwaved for about a minute or till cheese is melted. Then just add to your mac n cheese. Your tastebuds will thank you.
