I'm unemployed and have had to drastically cut my food/grocery budget. However, I still would like to be able to eat healthy. I find that with cutting my grocery bill, I'm (unfortunately) buying more starchy foods like bread, potatoes, pasta, etc. This is a group for those of us who are still out of work but want to try to eat healthy. Please feel free to jump in & share your recipes and thoughts.
I'd love to hear from others who have had to cut back their grocery bill due to unemployment in their family. I'm a family of 2, and when we both had great jobs, I was spending about $400.00-$500.00 per month on groceries...eating lots of fish, chicken, loads of veggies, fruit, etc. Now that I'm not employed, I've cut that back to about $320.00 per monthy, but I find that I've had to completely cut out fish (salmon) and a lot of the vegetables. I still want to eat healthy, but it's very difficult.
