healthy bean snack (kid friendly)

I saw Rachel Ray making roasted garbanzo beans last year and tried them..OMG these r great and fairly low in carb, fat and high in fiber. I made some blackeyed peas with the recipe posted below for New Years and they were awesome. The change I made was to sprinkle with a lil' olive oil sprinkled on seasoning and just a bit of brown sugar(could use Splenda I guess or omit it) and roasted them
@ 350 deg instead of frying them. Stir aft 20 min and watch carefully so they don't burn. Roast time was 40 min. Depending on bean size how long they have to roast. I can see endless possibilities and flavors. Soy beans are very low carb and would be great.

making fun for kids.

Halloween make-up
2 tablespoons shorting
5 tablespoons cornstarch
5 drops dish washing liquid
4-6 drops of food coloring
Mix shorting and cornstarch until creamy.Add dish washing liquid and mix.Add food coloring and mix until color is even.The detergent keeps the food coloring from staining your skin and clothes.

Play Dough
1-cup flour 1-cup water 1/2 cup salt
food coloring 2-teaspoon cream of tartar
1-tablespoon vegetable oil
Mix ingredients in saucepan.If colored play dough is desired put food coloring in water before mixing.Heat over medium heat,stirring until mixture comes away from the pan.Let stand until cool and have children knead until smooth.Add a little more flour if sticky.Store in airtight container.

army green-1 drop red to 3 drops green
orange-3 drops yellow to 1 drop red
purple-3 drops red to 1 drop blue
grey-3 drops blue to 2 drops red.
