DIY chocolate chips?

I have about 12 oz (squares) of white chocolate. Can I melt those down and add cocoa powder to make chocolate chips or pieces?
If so, do I need sugar?

Thanks in advance.

MYO and my personal finance classe

After many, many years of just getting by I'm final going back to school to get my BoS. One of my current classes is "Personal Finance." Part of the class is interactive discussions about the weekly learning topic. Many times it comes around to the topic of the things we do to save $ in our households. Many, many times I and a couple of other 'older' students like myself have recommended people learn to 'Make your own.' Or just plain, learn to cook period. You wouldn't believe the excuses people make. "Well, I don't have the time; I have a baby to raise.” “With Family, work, and school, I just don’t have the time to cook.”
Are you KIDDING me? 15 to 20 minutes to get everyone corralled into the car. (Ever read cookbooks about 3 ingredient 30 minute meals???)Drive anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to the restraint. Wait to be seated. Take 15 to 20 minutes for everyone to decide WHAT they’re going to have. Wait 30 minutes for your meal. Take approx. 30 minutes to EAT your meal. Now let’s pay for the meal, $9.99 x 4 JUST for the entrée for a Family of four. Drinks are about what? $1.75 x 4. At this point we are talking about $50 FOR ONE MEAL! Holy cow the groceries I could buy with $50!
By my vague estimation they have wasted three to three and a half hours, and $50 or more they could buy groceries with. Remember when they said, “Between Family, school, and work, I just don’t have the time to cook.” THREE AND A HALF HOURS wasted. I’m not picking on the ladies. I’ve seen the exact same response’s from the men.
Please tell me. Am I looking at it wrong?

Love the idea of this group!!

Thank you for starting this group!

I recently needed dry onion soup mix for a recipe and I was out and it was 5:00 in the morning. Did some studying and came up with this recipe. And I saved $$$ by making my own too.

Make your own

I am completely fascinated and addicted to "Making your own". Why go and buy it when you can make it yourself, cheaper, and know what's in it.
