I think beets are great for a lot of recipes, just wish people would give them a chance!!

Did you know that beets are a wonderful liver cleanser? Anyone who is taking prescription drugs, ibuprophen, etc. should know that it is filtered through the liver and puts more stress on that all-important organ than people realize. I highly recommend at least a couple of servings of beets per week. I incorporate beets into my morning smoothies, in my "Teacherman's Amish Beets" recipe, or simply boiled.
I'm involved in losing 141 pounds. It took me a lifetime to gain them; it's gonna take a few years to shed them. I need nighttime snacks that don't break the calorie bank. Beets, roasted in foil in the oven, store well in the fridge and are great cut up with a tasty salad dressing as a wonderful snack. Or, on cooler evenings, heated in the microwave and eaten with a little butter.
I've lost 13 pounds since Mar. 11th. Only 128 to go! ;-)
