Finally a company is going healthy! I bought a package of 100% Whole Wheat Tortillas, they are made in Kansas, and only contain 25 mg. of Sodium, are very low in Fat, and I think had 0 Cholesterol. So for supper last night I fixed burritos.
I fixed 1/2 bag of hash browns in a skillet with very little Canola oil, added 1/2 an onion (diced), then poured in a carton of Egg Beaters Three Cheese liquid. Cooked till done. Then heated the tortillas, added 2 T. of mixture, a squirt of Heinz No-Salt ketchup, and rolled them closed. YUM!!!!
Catchy title. Following my husband's stroke last month (July), I am learning to cook ... healthy food. I have yet to try whole wheat flour recipes yet, but know I should be using it instead of white flour. Would enjoy having some recipes.
We are also now on a low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-sodium diet. I've been using the George Foreman grill more, and when we eat meat it's skinless chicken, fish, pork loin, ground turkey, and extra lean ground sirloin.
Thanks in advance for any recipes you might post. A grateful cook from NE Kansas.
Has anyone used white whole wheat flour instead of white flour or whole wheat flour? I get mine at Trader Joes. I bought the God medal white whole heat and it appeared to be white flour with wheat bran added. Would love to hear your experiences.
Not only do I look forward to getting more recipes replacing white flour with whole wheat, but other ways to increase nutritional value in the foods we eat.
I have some recipes to share as soon as I can figure out how to do it. I am new to this process.
