Diana, I found a book by Linda Frederick Yaffe, BackPack Gourmets. The book is full of recipes that use a dehydrator to prepare all the meals. Its simple, with a high-quality electric food dehydrator with fan, heat source, and thermostat you can prepare any meal. I backpackers,so this will be a great book. It would also be a good book for someone, who just wanted to use a dehydrator to store food for the future. I found this book on the web for free.

I am getting my pantry room reorganized and have started canning some veggies.Daughter is coming tomorrow to help with some of the canning and to learn. Have been researching some different sites for the freeze dried or dehydrated food in #10 cans for long term storage. Also ordered and have recieved some oxygen absorbers that I will try to use with dried things such as pasta, rice, noodles ect. for long term storage. Anyone have any advice on using these?
Can anyone give me advice on dehydration. I've done a little in the past but mostly just made jerky. I would like to know how to take that jerky and reconstitute it and use it as meat in a meal. I can most of my fruits and veggies but it takes so long to can meats in qt jars. Just thought dehydrating would give me another way to preserve meat. Thanks for any suggestions.
