750 Calorie a Day Diet UGH

My husband and I begin the diet journey next week. We are on a 750 calorie a day diet. Our protein consists of chicken, pork loin and white fish. we can put seasoning on our meat but no sauces. Any suggestions?????? I am SO not looking forward to this

Hi Judy,

Smoothies rich in protein are great when one tries to watch one's calorie intake. Try my Very Berry Spinach Smoothie and/or Decedent Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie. Both delicious, satisfying, and full of protein (and fiber) that keep one full longer. Best of luck!!!!

750 calories a day ?!?!?! That sounds pretty stringent. How long will you be on this?

Lots of fresh or grilled raw veggies and fruits

Sorry I put the grilled in the wrong place. It should have read raw or grilled raw veggies....

Good Lord! Whatever possesed you to go on such a low calorie diet? I am working on a lifestyle change and it allows me 1700 calories a day which is no picnic.

I strongly suggest you buy some Nectar protien powder. I have 1 cup of skim milk with one scoop of the Chocolate Truffle protien powder for my breakfast each day and that is 186 calories but 23g of protien. I have been surprised that I find it so satisfying and suprisingly tasty.

You might try some spices like Harissa or Berbere which are a little different but have lovely flavors espcially on fish. They give you a flavor punch without the calories. Sweet potatoes are also a very low calorie treat. I slice them thin with a mandolin. Spray a baking sheet with Pam, lay out the slices, spray them with Pam and sprinkle with salt. Then bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes and you have a really yummy snack or sidedish.

I'm in agreement with the other posters... 750 is far too low. I lost 35 pounds 5 years ago and have kept it off. If you restrict your calories too much (especially women), your body will slow its metabolism sensing that it is in "crisis mode" or "starvation mode". For a woman, 1000-1200 would be the very minimum and even higher for men. Weight lost quickly is very difficult to maintain, as well. I can only offer what I did, which was to substitute cheese, deep fried, bakery and fast food with fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fiber. After 4-6 weeks, it just becomes habit and really greasy food loses its appeal. Good luck! Peg

I second the Nectar protein powder. Also that calorie goal is way low, below you basal metabolic rate! Check out myfitnesspal.com for a great way to track your calories. I am dixie_amazon over there.

I love fresh herbs and citrus juice on both my fish and chicken.
No calories, fresh taste.

Hi, I also agree with the others. 750 calories a day is way too low! The average diet consists of 1000-1200 calories per day. Be very careful with that strict of a diet.

Anna, I have been mulling over this off and on all day. Is this diet being supervised by your doctor? I certainly hope so. If not, I think you should get his/her approval before you stay on this diet more than a couple of days. It really sound too extreme to me and by the notes 'most everybody else.

Love and a big Texas hug.

People.......thanks for all the concern about my diet but I am just looking for unique ways to season proteins without using sauces and a lot of salt.

Sorry, Judy. Didn't mean to offend you. I'm just a bossy old lady who tries to run the world (so my kids say).

What kind of proteins will you be using. I have a couple of homemade seasonings that might work for you. Just eliminate the salt called for (or cut it in half).

Hope your weekend is wonderful.
