What a wonderful book Ellen! Thank you for including the apple spectrum I put up. I've found that bit of information most helpful in choosing the right apple for making apple-anything. I'm so glad you found it useful as well. Thank you again!
Glad to help, Tammy! Let me know if you try any and how they are. One of my favorite German restaurants here is called Heidelberg House and it has a store attached with all sorts of German groceries and other miscellaneous stuff, and out back is a gift shop where they specialize in music boxes. You could easily spend a couple of hours there, just browsing. And their food is great, even though it's a limited menu. They have all the "wursts," and they serve them with German potato salad (YUM!), bread and butter and a pickle. If you like, you get a boiled egg on the side. They don't serve sauerkraut because part of the place is a German bakery, and they don't want the smell of the kraut overpowering the baked goods (which, by the way, are to die for!). They only have maybe six or seven tables and sometimes you have to wait.
My best memory of that place is in 1989. We had just moved back to Indiana and were having lunch there--it was the day the Berlin Wall came down. Everyone was celebrating--what fun!
Oh wow! Thank you Ellen! They look great! The first one and the last one are near me. The middle one is close to my daughter's house. The first one may not be authentic but it sure looks yummy! I am so excited! I will def be trying these! Thank you again Ellen!
I don't think I have never been to a German resturant! I will have to see if there are any around here. I've not seen one. Hmmmm. I bet the food in Germany is delicious! I will have to try some of your recipes!
My son was stationed in Germany for three years back in the late 80s, with the Army. He loved the food, and so do I. We have two or three German restaurants here in Indy, but none of them are very close to me, so I don't get there often. That's why I love the recipes so much!
Mmmmm! I love German food! My daughter says that I would love Germany. She has been to Germany and she does not like German food as she is vegetarian. She does not like sauerkraut either and she know I love sausages and sauerkraut and all of it! Can't wait to see the new book!

Now, you cannot say you don't have any German restaurants around!

So . . . brathausaz.com
Check this out--it's where you live! Although from looking at their menu I don't think it is very authentic. Could be pretty good, though.
