What a memorable story for you to share with us. My mother couldn't see well and at her sisters, she thought applesauce was gravy and put it over her mashed potatoes. She has passed on but whenever I see any that were there, they tell the tale of Aunt Dorothy and her apple/taters. LOL

Thank you Gaynel, for your very nice comment...
sweet of you...glad you liked the book.
There is one recipe I should have added...
I would like to share this now.
..
While I was in Akron, Ohio for my dear brothers funeral, I was able to connect with his wonderful family.
His wife, three grown up sons and ther familys.
Later at a family home lunch was served. A very long sad day....
By the end of the afternoon..and desert time.
Young children , getting tired and restless....I decided it was time for a little jovility.
In the desert line, I toke a piece of cherry pie, and then added a a couple spoons of the wonderful, delicious baked beans on the top!(rather than carrying two dishes.)
I am sure they were thinking...is Aunt Nacy all there....??? HA!
Well it wasn't long before a few were trying this combination also. .
This broke the ice..and it wasn't long before a song fest was started, musical instruments appeared, the rest is history......
My brother would haved loved it.
There was no disrespect..but a family connecting with love.
Long story short.
Please try a scoop of baked beans on you're cherry pie slice.
You might be surprised, of the wonderful mingling of flavors
Maybe I could name this dish....Aunt Nancy's "CHEIBEAN PIE'...LOL

Added note: The year following, my siser-in-law sent me a package...Inside the box..was a 2 cans...
You probably can guess...baked beans, and cherry pie filling!!!
What a wonderful family.
